These terms cover your use of this website and the basis on which Horizon Skylights quotes for and carries out work. The written quote for your job, and anything we agree with you in writing, sits alongside them; where the two differ, the written quote wins.
Using the website
The guides and answers on the site are general information about skylights, rooflights and the rules in Wales. They are no substitute for a survey of your roof, or for advice from your local planning authority or building control. Rules change, and we check what applies to your property before quoting.
Links to gov.wales, the Planning Portal and other official sites are there for your convenience. We are not responsible for their content.
Surveys and quotes
The survey is free and puts you under no obligation. After it, we give you a fixed written quote. The price holds for the work it covers. A contract starts only when you accept the quote in writing, by email or by message.
Your right to cancel
If you accept our quote away from business premises or at a distance, which covers almost every job we do, the Consumer Contracts Regulations give you 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. If you ask us to start within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay a fair amount for the work done up to that point. Tell us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
Permissions and paperwork
Where the work is notifiable under the Building Regulations, we handle the notification. Planning permission and listed building consent are the property owner's responsibility; we tell you at survey if we think either is likely to be needed, and work waits until it is in place. The guides explain the Wales rules in more depth.
The guarantee
Our workmanship carries a 10-year guarantee, issued in writing when the job is complete. Products also carry their manufacturer's own warranty. The guarantee adds to your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and does not reduce them.
Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If something goes wrong, our complaints procedure is the first step, and either of us may then take a dispute to the courts of England and Wales.
