Horizon Skylights is the controller of the personal information you give us through this website, by email, by phone or on WhatsApp. We use it to answer your enquiry and to survey, quote for and carry out your job. We have no public premises, so every request about your data comes to us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
Who holds your information
Horizon Skylights decides why and how your information is used, which makes us the controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. Write to info@horizonskylightsswansea.co.uk about anything on the subject of your data.
What we collect
The enquiry form asks for your name, phone number, email address, postcode and a short note about the roof or room. If you message us on WhatsApp, we receive your number, your profile name and anything you send, including photos of the roof. When a survey goes ahead, we also keep the address of the property and notes about the work.
We do not ask for bank details through the website, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.
The enquiry form is run by a third party
The form on each page is an embed supplied by our customer-relationship software provider. What you type into it is stored on that provider's systems on our behalf, under a contract that limits them to processing it on our instructions. The provider may set its own technical cookies so the form works; its own privacy notice explains them.
WhatsApp is a service of WhatsApp Ireland Limited (part of Meta). Messages you send there are also handled under WhatsApp's own terms.
Why we use it, and the lawful basis
- Answering your enquiry and arranging a free survey: steps you have asked us to take before a contract.
- Quoting for and carrying out the work, and honouring the guarantee: performance of a contract with you.
- Keeping invoices and job records: legal obligation, for tax and accounting.
- Handling a complaint or a claim: our legitimate interest in resolving it fairly.
- Optional analytics cookies: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We never sell your information, and we do not send marketing unless you have opted in to it.
Who else may see it
Your details may pass to the form provider and our email and storage providers, who act on our instructions; to building control, where the work is notifiable and the notification needs the property address; and to our accountant. We share information with others only where the law requires it. Where a provider stores data outside the UK, we rely on the safeguards UK law allows, such as an adequacy decision or approved contract clauses.
How long we keep it
An enquiry that does not turn into a job is deleted within 12 months of our last contact. For work we carry out, we keep the job record for the 10 years of the workmanship guarantee plus one further year, and invoices for six years after the end of the financial year they fall in, as tax law expects.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it or restrict how we use it, object to a use based on legitimate interest, and ask for data you gave us in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. We answer within one month, and there is no charge in normal cases.
Complaining to the regulator
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
